McFarlane Toys has finally delivered the second series of figures from its Halo 3 license after a several months long wait from series 1. While some of my enthusiasm for this line has diminished in the time since it debuted, I can still appreciate these figures for their clever engineering and high-quality presentation. The second series delivers a new Master Chief, the Brute Stalker, the Arbiter, the Drone, and the ODST trooper as well as a whole slew of multiplayer Spartan armor permutations in various colors. My box o’ comic Hellboy action figures arrived this week and I am one happy toy collector right now! Mezco delivered one of the best comic-inspired action figure lines of all time with their short-lived Hellboy series. It’s a shame this line only went two waves. There was so much opportunity for awesomeness here. Oh well. I’ll just have to enjoy what we got! Expand the post to find out all about ‘em! (more…)

I was a late-comer to the Hellboy franchise but now I’m catching up. I rounded out my collection of figures from the second movie but I found myself wanting more. So, I went online and rounded up a handful of Mezco’s figs from the 2004 line for the first Hellboy movie and they do not disappoint! Expand the post for pics and reviews. (more…)

The Hellboy madness continues! The Hellboy movies sucked me into the world of Mignola’s comic characters and, thus, I have now proliferated many a Hellboy action figure. In support of the live action films there have been two feature-length animated movies made. Gentle Giant picked up the license for the animated Hellboy property and they’ve put out a series of figs that includes Hellboy himself and Abe Sapien. Expand for pics and reviews. (more…)

SOTA Toys has been rocking hard with the Street Fighter license for several years now and this trend-setting line all began right here with Street Fighter Round 1. With the SF line SOTA brought us superarticulated action figures that demonstrated innovative engineering, high-level quality and sculpts, and tons of pack-ins and extra features. The first series gave us classic SF characters Ryu, Sagat, Chun Li, M. Bison, and Sodom. Expand for pics and reviews. (more…)

I’m totally hooked on these Play Arts Final Fantasy action figures. My latest acquisitions are Squall and Rinoa from the Final Fantasy VIII line. These are 8″ scale action figures that feature more than 20 POAs and some extremely nice sculpts that really look like the video game characters jumped right off your Playstation’s screen and onto the toy shelf! The Hellboy II: The Golden Army action figures from Mezco are here and they are delightful! I was slow to warm up to the Hellboy franchise so I missed out on most of Mezco’s figures from the first movie, but I won’t make that mistake again. These are some outstanding figures! While they slack off a little in the articulation from what was done with the figures from the first movie there is certainly no drop off in sculpt or paint detail. Expand the post for figure-by-figure photogasmia and analysis! (more…)
