Ya know, this really IS a killer line. I was never that into Street Fighter. I played the game some as a kid (SNES!) but I never got that into it. But I AM into awesome superarticulated toys. and these are among the best out there. i started watching the old SF anime movies, just to get more "familiar" with the characters, and i totally geek out and sit there and have little battles between Ryu and Sagat while i watch the movies. so awesome!

this is a killer line of all stars (minus Sodom.) bar none some of the best and beefiest figures to date. sagat is still champ and as hard to find as they come. great stuff, SAG. i think i'll pull my SF figures out of storage and play with them.

this is a very good line. guile is top notch, adon could be a base for so many customs, but the shorts are a mess. the first SF figure i ever bought was Gen. very well constructed and opened the doors to some hard to find SF figures that are still my favorites.

asides Akuma, this line of lackluster names didn't do anything for me. if fact, i didn't pick anybody up besides akuma ( and some of his color variations) & birdie. birdie i could live with. very detailed. looking & reading your review DOES make one want to go buy some figures...

I think the "licking" head only came with the green version. the other color variants got the unmasked "serious" head.

SF1 was mostly popular as an arcade title, but it did have a handful of ports -- including one particularly awful one to DOS (which I had as a kid and reviewed a while back on SC). Even the arcade game wasn't all that great, but the potential that was fully realized in SF2 can still be appreciated in it. There's a pretty neat playthrough of the game here on YouTube, if you're interested:

And I will be curious to hear what you think of the SF animes! I've prided myself on having all of the various animated incarnations of SF to my DVD collection (as well as the laughable live-action movie), though I still don't think that any of the more recent stuff comes close to the original SF2 animated film from '94.

Ah... interesting. Where did SF1 appear (what console?)

I never played anything but SF2 and I remember as a kid being confused by that, because it seemed to me then that SF2 was the first of its kind and I always wondered what it was a sequel to.

I guess I should wiki this.

Oh, also, netflix has SF anime movies available to stream on 'watch it now'. me, a glass of white wine, and a 17" monitor filled with SF anime goodness are about to spend some quality saturday night time together.
